While none of us like to think about it providing for family in the event of unexpected death. It is something we all should do. Enfield Credit Union members can nominate a person they favour to receive their savings in the event of their death. By choosing to nominate a person you are enabling that person to access funds at the time of death without having to wait until legal matters are sorted out. We would encourage all members to complete a nomination form it only takes a moment and it would avoid the sometimes-timely intestacy process. Member accounts are subject to a limit of €23,000 amounts in excess of this will form part of your estate. Nomination forms can be completed by any member over the age of 16 at any of our offices. Please see some important notes below.
- The statutory maximum amount that can pass under a nomination is currently €23,000. Any amount in excess of this balance will form part of your estate.
- If you elect not to complete a nomination, the proceeds of your account will form part of your estate on your death and will be dealt with under the terms of your will, under the rules of intestacy if you make no will, or under the small payments provision.
- You may revoke or vary your nomination at any time by completing a new nomination form.
- If you have completed a Nomination Form but have since gotten married - your nomination is revoked and you will need to complete a new form.
